Tucker Carlson interviewing Tony Aguilar became a big moment for the followers of the Tucker Carlson Show.

Toney Aguilar has experience serving in the United States Army for more than 25 years. The Green Beret officer was deployed 12 times to foreign soil.

As a result, the veteran has served in Iraq three times. The veteran soldier also served in Syria, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

However, Tucker Carlson did not invite the veteran soldier for his achievements in the United States Army.

Tony Aguilar And Tucker Carlson Interview: Why Was Tony Aguilar’s Take On Gaza A Highlight?

You all know that in recent times, Toney Aguilar has been catching people’s eyes since he has been trying to draw people’s attention to the recent events in Gaza.

The veteran soldier has started a sort of vigil campaign. His efforts, however, go against the interests of the state of Israel, one of the longest-standing allies of the United States.

Toney Aguilar has been visiting various platforms while enlightening people about the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza.

However, what provides him authority over the subject is his recent experience of serving in Gaza for GHF. The Purple Heart recipient veteran has been a part of the recent Gaza humanitarian Force operations.

The recent Tony Aguilar and Tucker Carlson interview revolved around the first-hand experience gathered by the former Army officer. The interview also tried to shed light on the worsening conditions of the Gazans. However, some of the details put up by the veteran soldier were disturbing.

Let us dig into the further details that were discussed in the Tony Aguilar and Tucker Carlson Interview.

The Tony Aguilar And Tucker Carlson Interview: What Did They Talk About?

The interview in itself started while setting up the base. The host of the show started the show while providing background details about the former US special operations soldier.

The host justified that the 25 years of experience in combat justify the authority of the veteran over the subject.

The former US special operations officer started explaining the role and purpose of the GHF in Gaza.

Toney Aguilar explained the role of the Gaza Humanitarian Force, while emphasizing the current role played by the body. The former soldier also explained the purpose of the body and his association with it.

1. What Is GHF, And How Did Toney Aguilar Get To Work For Them?

The GHF is a non-profit body that is backed by both the USA and the Israeli Governments.

Toney Aguilar explained in the interview that the organization aims to replace the aid mechanism of the United Nations for the people of Gaza.

However, several other organizations and NGOs accuse the GHF of politicizing and also weaponizing aid.  The body came into existence after the Israeli Defense Forces accused Hamas of diverting assistance for military purposes.

Therefore, GHF always surrounds itself in controversy and confusion. However, the former soldier expressed a lack of idea regarding the exact categorization of the organization; he said that he doesn’t know if it is an NGO, a Company, or a non-profit.

Toney Aguilar conveyed that he was approached by EUG Solutions, which is a subcontractor of GHF. The body was approaching people with experience in the military, special operations, and crime control, among others.

2. What Did The Retired Officer Suggest About The Situations In Gaza?

The veteran soldier who had the experience of working in Gaza conveys that the situation of the civilian population in Gaza was not in the right conditions.

Toney Aguilar said, “ The civilian population in Gaza, political views, religious positions aside, they are being oppressed”.

The veteran soldier further explains that the civilian population of Gaza is being oppressed in terms of “ food , water, dignity, and life”.

The retired colonel of the United States Army suggests that he does not have any “ political leaning or any political aspirations”. Therefore, it is the first-hand experience of his own that he was conveying.

Toney Aguilar adds that his reasons for going on record about the occurrences were nothing but “ patriotic”. Therefore, the veteran soldier wanted to inform the citizens of the United States about “ What was going on in Gaza and what the taxpayers’ dollars were funding.”

Listening to this, the host of the show, Tucker Curlson, points out that this has been going on for quite a while now. And the American mainstream media has not been reporting much about it.

3. Tucker Carlson Interviewing Tony Aguilar Had Shed Light On Everything That The Soldier Witnessed In Gaza?

The retired colonel of the United States Army, with 25 years of experience in the military and combat, tries to visualize the scene of Gaza. While explaining, he compares it to the post-apocalyptic scene from a Hollywood sci-fi movie.

The veteran compares what he saw with “ T100s walking through the destroyed landscape”. He refers to the scene from “Terminator 2.”

Toney Aguilar conveys that there is not a single standing building, and all of it is now leveled to the ground. He states that the place previously had beach houses, neighborhoods, and other things. However, now all that can be seen is destruction.

The veteran soldier even witnessed media sanctioning right from the grounds. He explains an instance when the air strikes were conducted 48 hours ago.

Therefore, the journalists and reporters were not allowed or were discouraged from capturing the aerial footage of the actual scenario of the on-ground rubble and the broken buildings.

4. According To Toney Aguilar, How Does Gaza Compare With The Situations In Iraq Or Afghanistan

Tucker Curlson, the host, points out that the soldier has extensive service experience in some of the most dangerous war-torn regions.

The host, therefore, asked his guest, “ How would he compare Gaza to what he has seen in Afghanistan and Iraq?”

What the veteran soldier said was shocking. Toney Aguilar suggests that what he witnessed in Gaza somehow outperforms all his other experiences.

Toney replies to the question with a simple phrase, “ nothing compares.” he suggests that he has seen nothing like that in Soldier City, Iraq, Baghdad, Mosul, or the Philippines.

The veteran soldier said in the Tucker Carlson interview that he has witnessed nothing like this in some of the most densely populated war-torn zones all over the world.

The former Green Barret was concerned that whatever was happening in Gaza was nothing but a war crime.

The IDF operations have displaced the people of Gaza from their homes. Toney was concerned that if his country was a part of this, then they were actually indulging in war crimes.

Tucker Carlson Interview With Toney Aguilar: What Did We Think?

The recent course of events has made it clear that the Western media has been quite reluctant to cover the events of Gaza.

However, the Western media has been covering all the relevant world conflicts quite extensively, which includes Ukraine, India, and Pakistan. However, from the lack of knowledge by the ordinary citizens in the United States regarding Gaza, it is quite evident that there has been a lack of coverage.

This entire situation kind of reminds us of the famous work by Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman. The whole scenario revolves around the determination of the worthy victim in the eyes of the Western media, and on the other hand, who is not to be considered as the worthy victim

There are several things to consider while understanding the behavior of the media.  The Western press launches a more detailed report when they cover other situations, like the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

However, it will not be fair to compare both situations as the nature of conflict is different, and so is the nature of victimhood.

Despite that, the enthusiasts of geopolitics and the students of media should try to understand the difference in handling situations by Western media organizations.

How Identity Influences Empathy And Sympathy In Media Coverage: Drawing A Comparison Between Ukraine And Gaza

Tucker Carlson interviewing Tony Aguilar has shed light on various traits of the Western media.

The world has witnessed the Western media being empathetic while covering the situation in Ukraine. On the other hand, the Western media has been reluctant to cover the conditions in Gaza.

The students of geopolitics and media enthusiasts should go through the recent coverage of the Ukraine-Russia War.

Journalist Charlie D’Agata addressed the Ukrainian civilians as “relatively civilized, relatively European” on CBS News. On the other hand, we found Lucy Watson, a correspondent of ITV News, described the situation as “unthinkable”. The correspondent described ‘This is not a developing third world nation, This is Europe.”

Kelly Cobiella, NBC news correspondent, defined the refugees of Ukraine as “ Christians and whites” and not refugees from Syria or the Middle East.

Therefore, we could see that there was a sense of empathy and extra sympathy. However, a parochial sense of cohesion based on identities causes the added sympathy.

These identity-based discriminations can at times be based on the victim’s religion, race, and other identities, like ethnic identity.

The Western media shapes its outlook mostly along the lines of identity. Therefore, the Western audience mostly remains unaware of the occurrence in the Middle East or Gaza.
