No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence, has quietly taken up the seventh spot on Netflix’s top 10. Gene Stupnitsky directed the movie, and it hit the theatres the past summer. Lawrence plays the character of Maddie, who is broke. She takes up a job helping two helicopter parents break their 19-year-old son out of his shell before he heads off to college.
According to Netflix’s global Top 10 list, No Hard Feelings is ranked the seventh most popular movie on the platform for the week of October 16 to 22. The comedy that has been rated R has managed to beat Tammy, Sky Kids, and Scary Movie. But it has been left behind by Fair Play, Long Shot, REptile, Gemini Man, and The Devil on Trial. Taking the coveted number one spot is Old Dads.
Lawrence’s movie had a wide release in June, getting mostly positive reviews from critics. The No Hard Feelings reviews have cited Lawrence’s performance as Maddie as one of the highlights of the movie. The actor has brought her unique comedic sensibility to the role efficiently.
Rotten Tomatoes has described it in stark words. “This raunchy comedy often plays it disappointingly safe, but Jennifer Lawrence’s comedic and dramatic chops ensure that the end result prompts No Hard Feelings.”
Elliott Collins of Movie Files says, “JENNIFER LAWRENCE finally gets to flex her comedic chops but after the initial opening moments, the film falls apart & painfully crawls into the second half. The film struggled to find a balanced and consistent tone.”
Tomris Laffly from TheWrap is of the opinion that “This light pick-me-up of a flick is as eager to please as [Jennifer] Lawrence is to show off her luminous physical comedy skills, elevated by the star’s fiery comic timing and effortless drollness.” “It’s a real shame that [Jennifer Lawrence] spent a decade playing noted sourpuss Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games and its sequels, as she has better comic timing than just about anyone else from her age cohort,” says Sonny Bunch of The Bulwark.
