The iconic blue bird logo of Twitter is officially gone today! In its place, a simple white X on a black background became the new logo of Twitter on 24 July 2023. The change comes as part of the wider rebranding effort that Musk, the owner of Twitter, is planning!
In a tweet on Sunday, Musk informed that changing the logo of Twitter from the iconic blue bird to X symbolized the imperfections present in all of us, making us unique.
The X.com domain was an online banking services platform from his initial entrepreneurship days. The domain was a precursor of PayPal that Mr brought back. Elon Musk in 2017, even though he did not inform at that time about his plans with it.
At the time, Musk stated that the project for him symbolized struggle and hard work in his early entrepreneurial days. Therefore, he paid homage by buying back the project and planning a rebranding of his business.
The domain was an unused asset that Musk kept under wraps and made the big reveal by integrating it with Twitter, hence announcing it on Sunday! He already owns other businesses, such as Tesla and SpaceX.
The owner of Twitter also tweeted a picture of the company’s headquarters in San Francisco, having the X branding beaming across the building. There have been considerable changes in Twitter after Musk took ownership, such as doing away with the blue badge of legacy verification, introducing paid verification system, and others.
Elon Musk also reinstated many high-profile accounts that were suspended based on serious charges of antisemitic posts and controversial and hateful comments, such as influencer Andrew Tate, who is currently in Romania prison, Rapper Kanye West making antisemitic comments, and Former US president Donald Trump!
Some of the changes made by Musk have raised a huge outcry among people across the globe! Keep an eye out for the changes the symbol X brings with it!
