Bob Menendez, senator of New Jersey was charged with several corruption allegations and still survived his political career for years. The senator now has new federal corruption charges to his name. The charges are also against his business associates and his wife.

On Friday the senator revealed he will be adopting the same challenging stance against these new charges as he did with previous corruption charges against him a decade ago.

Bob Menendez has held office for three terms in New Jersey’s political landscape. He held high positions at every level in New Jersey political office. Now after three terms of office, he vows to fight against the latest charges against him. He also plans to question the accuracy of the indictment.

He almost used the same language while talking about these new corruption allegations as he did in 2017 when faced with similar corruption charges. Also, he vows to continue his work as Senator as he disproves these allegations against him.

In a statement, Menendez states, “For years, forces behind the scenes have repeatedly attempted to silence my voice and dig my political grave.” The statement echoes his statement from six years ago when he addressed his earlier corruption allegations saying “those who were digging my political grave.”

He also told those who have put the blame on him will not be forgotten. While in Menedez ‘first federal corruption trial New Jersey’s Democratic organization showed their support but this seems not to be the case for this new trial.

On Friday, Phil Murphy who’s the leader of the Democratic party as well as state party chairman asked for Menendez’s resignation. Murphy said, “The alleged facts are so serious that they compromise the ability of Senator Menendez to effectively represent the people of our state. Therefore, I am calling for his immediate resignation.”

But people who have known the Senator and his resilience said that he will not leave his office without a fight.
